The PET/CT Center of North Florida is the division of our Integrated Community Oncology Network that provides exclusive advanced imaging capabilities for our patients at our Cancer Centers in and around Jacksonville, Florida. Our mobile platforms allow us to bring these imaging techniques directly to our patients and physicians at their local clinic, thereby enhancing our ability to provide total cancer care in a pleasant, comfortable and familiar setting. Our technologists and radiologists are licensed and board certified in their respective fields, providing caring, quality patient care.State of the art equipment The PET/CT Center offers current state of the art equipment with multiple Siemens Medical Biograph True Point PET/CTscanners. Each unit is equipped with dedicated external laser systems, respiratory gating capability, and a flat board imaging couch which simulates a patient treatment table. These extra systems enable us to perform CT and PET/CT studies for our patients in the therapy treatment position that can then be used for diagnosis, staging, treatment planning, and monitoring of a patient’s response to therapy. Our advanced “clinical PET/CT” process has been a showcase for Siemens Medical Systems and has been featured at numerous national medical meetings. Our F-18 bone scanning techniques bring a new level of accuracy and relevance to patients suspected of have cancer involving the skeleton. Our Center has been awarded accreditation by the American College of Radiology for the achievement of high practice standards. Evaluations of facilities for the American College of Radiology are conducted by board certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. They assess the qualifications of the personnel and adequacy of facility equipment. Furthermore, we actively participate in the National Oncologic PET Registry and the American College of Radiology Imaging Network research protocols. MRI Imaging now available We recently have added MRI imaging for our oncologic patients. Using a Siemens Medical MAGNETOM Espree, the world’s only 1.5 Tesla Open Bore MRI. The wide bore size of this Open MRI scanner enables us to perform studies with patients in the treatment planning position. The open architecture of the system provides the highest level of patient comfort in the industry. Indeed, the majority of MRI examinations can be done with the patient’s head outside of the bore tunnel, lessening the feeling of claustrophobia so commonly seen with these studies. The Goal Our goal is to maintain the highest standards of patient care by providing imaging services with leading-edge equipment producing high resolution, accurate data in a truly efficient and clinically relevant manner, and to provide timely and precise radiological interpretation for your cancer treatment physicians. |
